Universal.Design.Pptx
Projects Universal.Design systems to PPTX presentations and templates.
Quick start
using Universal.Design;
using Universal.Design.Pptx;
ResolvedDesignSystem system = DesignSystemDocument.Load("system.json").Resolve();
DesignArtifact presentation = PptxDesignConverter.Convert(system);
DesignArtifact template = PowerPointTemplateConverter.Convert(system);
Editable drawing elements
The com.microsoft.powerpoint/layout vocabulary supports an ordered elements
array. These elements are instantiated as editable slide objects whenever a deck
uses the layout. Supported kinds are shape, text, line, image and table.
Bounds and text metrics use physical scalars (pt, in, mm, cm, pc);
colours and dimensions can reference design tokens. Image elements reference
ordinary design assets and support cropping. Text supports paragraph alignment,
native bullets with hanging indents, font metrics, margins and vertical anchors.
Tables have editable rows, columns and cells.
For example, a layout element can bind its text to a slide's content.headline:
{
"id": "headline",
"kind": "text",
"bounds": {
"x": { "value": 48, "unit": "pt" },
"y": { "value": 42, "unit": "pt" },
"width": { "value": 700, "unit": "pt" },
"height": { "value": 72, "unit": "pt" }
},
"fill": "none",
"text": {
"contentKey": "headline",
"wrap": true,
"paragraphs": [{ "style": {
"fontFamily": "Aptos",
"fontSize": { "value": 32, "unit": "pt" },
"color": "#162539"
} }]
}
}
Bind strings or arrays of paragraph strings in the existing deck content
object. Additional paragraphs inherit the last declared paragraph format.
showMasterShapes: false suppresses inherited master artwork for a layout.
Selecting a drawing layout with PptxDesignConverter produces a single slide
with its declared elements and default paragraph text. Selecting a deck with
PowerPointTemplateConverter produces a populated POTX using the same generation
path as PPTX. Duplicate its example slides in PowerPoint or reference its JSON
layouts from another deck composition.
Generation consumes resolved JSON and materialized assets. It requires no source presentation packages. The schema and vocabulary validator reject unsupported fields, invalid physical bounds, duplicate element IDs and malformed tables.
Structural layout analysis
Generated decks can be measured without rasterizing them. The result maps layout findings back to deck content and reusable layout-placeholder paths.
PowerPointProjectionResult result = PowerPointDeckConverter.ConvertAndAnalyze(system);
foreach (PowerPointLayoutDiagnostic diagnostic in result.Analysis.Diagnostics)
Console.WriteLine($"{diagnostic.Code} {diagnostic.Path}: {diagnostic.Message}");
The analyzer reports painted elements outside the slide and unintended element intersections. Shapes declared in a layout or master decorations collection are treated as intentional overlays.
Undeclared intersections are warnings by default. Set
PowerPointAnalysisOptions.OverlapSeverity to DesignDiagnosticSeverity.Error when an
explicit design policy prohibits overlap.
