MEGFW — MEngine Game Framework

MEGFW is a MonoGame / Microsoft XNA–style game framework layered on top of MEngine. It gives you a familiar Game / GameTime / SpriteBatch / ContentManager API while keeping MEngine’s rendering, input, audio, and windowing underneath.

Projects in this solution

Project Role
MEGFW Framework library (megfw.dll)
MEGFW.Tests Unit tests
TestGame Sample platformer using MEGFW
ResBuilder Compiles Assets/.mrx / optional .mpk

Quick start

using MEGFW;
using MEGFW.Graphics;

public class MyGame : Game
{
    protected override void LoadContent() { }

    protected override void Update(GameTime gameTime)
    {
        if (MEGFW.Input.Keyboard.GetState().IsKeyPressed(MEGFW.Input.Keys.Escape))
            Exit();
    }

    protected override void Draw(GameTime gameTime)
    {
        GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue);
        SpriteBatch.Begin();
        SpriteBatch.FillRectangle(new MEGFW.Geometry.Rectangle(100, 100, 64, 64), Color.Red);
        SpriteBatch.End();
    }
}

// Program.cs
return new MyGame().Run();

Design goals

  • Familiar — same mental model as MonoGame/XNA (Game, Update, Draw, SpriteBatch)
  • Thin — wraps MEngine; does not reimplement bgfx
  • Complete enough — loop, graphics, input, content, audio, networking, 2D physics, scenes, components
  • Testable — math/physics/content covered by unit tests without a GPU where possible
