Document Solutions for Imaging

Document Solutions for Imaging (DsImaging, formerly GcImaging) is a fast, powerful imaging API library. It allows developers to do advanced image processing in C# or VB.NET code with no 3rd party dependencies. DsImaging is small and extremely portable, completely written in pure C#. The only dependency is .NET itself.

Features include:

  • Programmatically create, load, modify, save or convert raster and vector (SVG) images.
  • Read and write JPEG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, GIF, ICO, BMP and JPEG 2000 (read-only) raster image formats.
  • Read and write multi-frame GIF, ICO, and TIFF formats with access to individual frames.
  • Load Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG, SVGZ) images into the provided SVG document object model.
  • Create from scratch or modify existing SVG images using the SVG DOM.
  • Use the same full set of common graphics drawing tools with raster and vector images.
  • Rasterize vector images to combine with other graphics.
  • Advanced text rendering capabilities, powerful character and paragraph formatting.
  • Support for RTL text (including Kashida in Arabic) and bitmap glyphs in OpenType CJK fonts.
  • Table layout engine for creating complex grid-based layouts with text and graphics.
  • Perform rotate, flip, crop, resize, composite, blend operations.
  • Apply Gaussian blur, glow, soft edges, dithering, thresholding and other effects to images.
  • Perform advanced processing of color and alpha channels.
  • Full programmatic access to EXIF metadata.

DsImaging comes with a powerful client side JavaScript Image Viewer and Editor (DsImageViewer).

DsImaging is compatible with .NET 6 or later, .NET Standard 2.x, and .NET Framework 4.6.1 or later.

All features are fully supported on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

Verifying the SBOM

This package carries a CycloneDX software bill of materials (SBOM) for each target framework, at sbom/<tfm>/bom.cdx.json, signed with the MESCIUS inc. code-signing certificate. To verify one, with Node.js and OpenSSL installed (on Windows, OpenSSL comes with Git for Windows):

tar -xf ds.documents.imaging.<version>.nupkg sbom/net462/bom.cdx.json # Windows, macOS
unzip ds.documents.imaging.<version>.nupkg sbom/net462/bom.cdx.json # Linux
npx @wynenterprise/sign-sbom@1.0.4 sbom/net462/bom.cdx.json --export-key public.key
npx -p @cyclonedx/cdxgen@12.8.2 cdx-verify -i sbom/net462/bom.cdx.json --public-key public.key
openssl x509 -in public.key -noout -subject -issuer -dates
  1. tar (built into Windows 10 and later and macOS) or unzip (Linux) extracts the SBOM from the package - the .nupkg as downloaded from nuget.org, or from the NuGet cache (~/.nuget/packages/ds.documents.imaging/<version>/).
  2. sign-sbom --export-key saves the signing certificate embedded in the SBOM to public.key.
  3. cdx-verify checks the signature. Signature is valid! means the SBOM has not been changed since it was signed with that certificate.
  4. openssl x509 shows whose certificate it is. The subject should name MESCIUS inc. (O=MESCIUS inc., CN=MESCIUS inc.) and the issuer should be a DigiCert code-signing CA.

Step 3 alone proves only that the SBOM matches the certificate inside it; step 4 ties that certificate to MESCIUS. To also check that it chains to a trusted root, save the issuing DigiCert intermediate and root certificates (DigiCert root and intermediate certificates) as PEM in chain.pem and run openssl verify -CAfile chain.pem public.key. If the certificate has expired since the SBOM was signed, add -attime <seconds>, with the SBOM's metadata.timestamp as seconds since 1970-01-01 UTC.
