TeaMonkeyFruit.StringEncryption

A simple library for symmetrically encrypting and decrypting strings using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in .NETStandard 2

This library uses the microsoft System.Security.Cryptography library to encrypt and decrypt secret strings. Create a 32 character private key. Pass the private key and secret string to the EncryptionService.EncryptString() method. The result is the secret string encrypted. Your secret is now protected! To decrypt, reverse the proces using the same private key. Hide your private key so your secret stays a secret.

Example use:

[Fact]
public async Task SecretIsDecrypted()
{
  IEncryptionService encryptionService = new EncryptionService();
  var secret = "MySuperSecretString";
  var privateKey = "8ju75gye63I93FJIeO03s49f0oqpa643";

  var encryptedSecret = encryptionService.EncryptString(secret, privateKey);

  encryptedSecret.Should().NotBe(secret); //Test assertion that string is encrypted

  var decryptedSecret = encryptionService.DecryptString(encryptedSecret, privateKey);

  decryptedSecret.Should().Be(secret); //Test assertion that string is decrypted.
}
